How to Know You Are Really Hearing God
Jesus said, “My sheep hear my voice” (John 10:27) — not just prophets and pastors, but every child of God. Hearing Him is your birthright. But the hunger to hear God, when it is not married to the Word of God, can become an open door to deception. Sincerity is not protection. The enemy is glad to supply a voice that flatters your longing.
So test every voice. Measure every dream, impression, and “word” against the whole of Scripture, not two favorite verses (1 John 4:1). And watch the direction it pulls you: God’s voice leads you toward holiness, humility, love, and the cross. A voice that pulls you toward pride, secrecy, or a “special revelation” that makes you superior to other believers is not His.
Remember too that God’s voice corrects as well as comforts. A voice that only ever tells you what you want to hear, and never once asks anything hard of you, is not the voice of the God who calls His children to take up a cross. Stay in the Word, and you will know His voice from every counterfeit.
“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” — John 10:27
