God Was Never the One Who Is Far
Many believers picture God standing at a distance with His arms folded, waiting for them to travel a great road to reach Him. But that was never true. “Am I a God at hand, saith the LORD, and not a God afar off?” (Jeremiah 23:23). He is at hand — present, near, already in the room.
Drawing near to God is not you crossing a great distance to a God who is far. It is you turning to face the One who was already there. The distance was never His — it was ours. And the moment you turn toward Him, you find He has been looking at you the whole time.
So don’t come to Him only for what His hand can give. Come for Him. Seek His face, not just His help — and you will discover you were never as far as you feared.
“Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you.” — James 4:8
